About VetCPDLibrary

Why VetCPDLibrary exists

There's a whole world of CPD out there, from free content, to paid courses, and subscription-based providers. All this knowledge is scattered over different websites and platforms, each with their individual challenges preventing the easy locating of content.

VetCPDLibrary is an attempt to fix that: one searchable, filterable catalogue of CPD, gathered from different providers. Filter by topic, species, format, speaker or how much time you have, and then learn when it suits you best.

While currently the content here is internet-based and predominantly on demand, we hope in the future to list local CPD events (meeting like-minded people is good, plus there's often pizza!), as well as paid courses and events, so that veterinary staff can choose their best CPD for their needs and budget.

Accessing the database will always be free

Finding and accessing the CPD listed here doesn't cost anything, and that won't change.

Where does the content come from?

Every entry is manually checked before it's added. We're not just blindly scraping websites and hoping for the best! As the library grows, we hope that some entries will come from vets and nurses like you. Maybe you've done a webinar you really enjoyed, or you've been working hard to organise a CPD evening. You can suggest a resource here.

When it comes to free CPD, a lot of this content is sponsored by, for example, a pharmaceutical or nutrition company. If that's the case, we'll make a note of it, so you're aware of any sponsor relationships before viewing the content.

What's next?

Right now, everything in the library is free. Over time, we'd like to expand the database to include paid-for CPD, so that people can easily search for content that's useful and relevant to their practice and interests, as well as compare costs and content more easily.

How can we help?

Right now, there are some limitations to the scope of content.

While much of the content is globally relevant, some of it is very UK-centric, though there's a handful of US and Australian specific webinars too. Language-wise, virtually all the content is in English. We'd really like to include some more internationally relevant material, both in terms of content and language, so please let us know if you have any sources to suggest.

In addition, most of the content here is small animal focused, and we'd really like to include more content on farm and production animal related topics.

Finally, eventually some of the links in the database will become broken or outdated. If you spot one, please use the "Report an issue" link on that entry, so we can fix it.

If you have any suggestions, whether general or related to the above, please feel free to use the form, or email us at hello@vetcpdlibrary.com.

Who's behind this?

I'm Valerie, a veterinary surgeon who not only enjoys learning and CPD, but also enjoys teaching and seeing other people learn. VetCPDLibrary was born out of a realisation that CPD can be expensive and sometimes inaccessible for a variety of reasons, including financial cost, travel limitations, or even decision paralysis as there is so much to choose from.

When not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and pets, as well as reading. Based on the above, apparently I also enjoy referring to myself with the "royal we"!
